Design Concepts For New Bathrooms

Remodeling your bathroom doesnt have to mean breaking the bank or taking out a second mortgage on your home, but what it does mean is a well thought out master plan, some drawings and a calculator. Think in terms of an artist starting out with a blank canvas, he or she has their own unique design concepts for what they perceive as art. Creating your dream bathroom takes on a similar approach in that we must first decide on look we are trying to achieve.

With several design platforms to choose from starting with the century old Victorian bathroom that were characterized by claw-footed roll top baths, sculpted pedestal basins, free standing showers enclosures and sometimes a matching bidet.

Todays modern bathrooms are depicted by the ever changing styles from year-to-year. Recent modern designs include sleek, straight and geometric lines with white remaining the prevalent choice in bathroom furnishings sporting ultra mod bath and basin mixer taps in polished chrome.

Depending on the size of bathroom, keep in mind that less is best in the way of accessorizing. Over powering the look of the bathrooms with numerous accessories tends to make a small room appear even smaller unless you are utilizing bathroom mirrors which lends way to a more open space. On the other hand when working with a large area, modern bathroom accessories are a welcomed addition to give the bathroom a finished look.

Traditional bathrooms tend to focus more on architectural details bringing nature inside. With the inspired look of wood such as oak, maple, and beech shelves and cabinets, wood finishes enhance the mood by giving the bathroom a warm earthy tone, similar to a country or rustic looking bathroom.

Once you have selected the style of bathroom, think about how you will be using the space. When it comes to function and space planning, calculate the dimension of the bathroom this will also help you to decide on the type of bathroom furniture pieces you can place within a designated area. Assess your bathroom storage needs, will you need a bathroom cabinet, shelving or vanity. For smaller bathrooms a minimalist style means honing in on crucial space and utilizing it in order create a clutter free bathroom ensuring the bathroom furniture has strong clean lines and is aesthetically pleasing to the eye.

Look at several bathrooms designs, with several hundred bathroom design ideas available on the internet choosing a style that fits your style, space and budget can be simple and a pleasurable task. The key element that has to be taken into account is budget, keeping in mind if you are not a do-it- yourself (DIY) person, then it is best to leave the job up to a professionals even though this will cut into your bathroom budget, you are guaranteed the job will be done right. For the DIYs, making mistakes can be equally costly not to mention frustrating if your plans were not carefully thought out especially when it comes to the plumbing and electrical supply within your bathroom space. According to renovating and contracting firms when homeowners decide to remodel their bathrooms themselves they see a bathroom suite they want, purchase it, and get it home only to run into complications.

People forget when transitioning from a standard bath to a whirlpool bath there are several critical factors that must be considered like plumbing, hot water heaters, and floor supports. Bathroom floors are built to bear the weight of a standard bathtub not whirlpool spa baths. Today's custom homes will accommodate most luxury tubs, but floor joists may require reinforcement in older homes if the tub is oversized nipples especially whirlpool baths. Whirlpool baths have the water capacity of up to 80 gallons, if the proper hot water tank is not installed it will result in tepid bathwater taking away the enjoyment and purpose of a whirlpool bath.

By creating a blue print to your bathroom remodeling project, you will not only save time, but save money on unexpected amendments in order to compensate your bathroom requirements.

Home Interior Decor Ideas for an Entertainment Room

Movie buffs tend to show off their passion for movies and favorite stars in whatever way they can. And, of course, their hobby is reflected in home interior decor as well.

True Home Interior Decor for the Movie Buff Begins in the Entertainment Room

As a movie enthusiast you want your home interior decor to show how much you love movies; what a better place to start with than the entertainment room? An entertainment room is usually the basement of a home, where people gather to relax and watch movies. It can also be the living room as well.

Nearly every movie buff loves collecting movie posters and celebrity autographs. These items will fit ideally in your home interior decor if you hang them on your entertainment room walls. Simply frame them and place them at random on each wall. However, be sure to leave at least a couple of inches between each item, as putting them too close to each other detracts from each one.

If you have any movie memorabilia, you have a great source of home interior decor for the entertainment room. Place the memorabilia in a central part of the room (although not too close to the television as that could be distracting). Ideally, no matter what the movie memorabilia is, it should be encased in glass. Thus, purchase a cabinet of some sort to display your items in.

Then, of course, there is your movie Karups Private Collection. No doubt, as a movie enthusiast, you have hundreds of movies to put on display. While you could just put them in a typical cabinet, why not display them on shelves in categories? You could arrange them according to genre, or by actor.

You must also have many books devoted to the subject of movies. You can display them as well and contribute to the home interior decor of your entertainment room. True, you can place the books in the bookcase, buy why not show off some of your more treasured books by placing them for all to see on a coffee table?

Of course, no home interior decor is complete without furniture. For your entertainment room you need a television big enough for everyone to see properly, a nice soft couch, and perhaps an armchair or two. With some creativity and so many options available for a home interior decor entirely devoted to movies, you can make your entertainment room a unique place.

A Religion In Need Of Redemption

Generally, religion figures human beings need redemption. Now, we note, at least one religion is in dire need of redemption: Islam.

The explosive evidence speaks for itself unfortunately, louder than any other voice in Islam.

But can enough Muslims be convinced that their religion needs salvation?

If a humor magazine cant do it, who can? Heres a short course, called Good Religion 101.

Is a religion supposed to be an enhancement of life or a liability against it? What is its merit to the living when it becomes a liability against life? For that matter, what is its merit to the ultimate source of life in this context, taken to be Allah, the one true pal of us all?

To be meritorious, a religion must be primarily about the sanctity of life, not the sanctity of death. The more it subordinates life, which is what we have in our care, the more it has gone wrong.

To be fair, we do hear or read an occasional Islamic voice that has not lost sight of what a meritorious religion must be, but where are the voices of Islams millions, most notably its multitude of mullahs?

To the extent that Islams we-know-better members do not raise their voices against their religion gone wrong, they permit it to be denigrated in the service of death.

The question is, can it be put pervasively in the service of life? Can it be made exemplary for the lives of Muslims themselves men, women, adults, and children as well as good for all the infidels who just wish it would go away?

If it is to be transformed into a religion that doesnt need to be saved, it must become one that is good for all the living. After all, only behavior that is good for everyone can be held up as a standard for everyone or as proper reverence to the ultimate source of us all.

We leave right-minded Muslims with the question wrong-minded Muslims have forced into the foreground. Can Islam be redeemed?

A lot of good people dont think so. They think the religion is a hopeless case. Since their opinion could only arise from ample cause, its all the more urgent for right-minded Muslims to bestir themselves on behalf of their religion gone wrong.

From Unsigned Band To Household Name - Making A Break For The Mainstream

A recent article in the Observer, a leading British Sunday newspaper, detailed how music known as 'indie' has evolved in both essence and meaning. Essentially, in the 1980s, to be 'indie' signified a particular attitude - a subculture that was associated with obscurity and anti-commercialism. But today, indie's biggest independent bands are wholly commercial: multi-platinum selling independent bands like The Kooks, Snow Patrol and Coldplay are still known as 'indie', although there's very little that's independent about them.

But despite the independent in music now having become ingratiated into the mainstream music scene, recent years have seen the resurgence of an underground musical scene in the UK, where unsigned independent bands and independent record labels reign supreme. The phenomenal success of MySpace has meant that up and coming independent bands have found it increasingly easy to get heard and build-up a dedicated following via the web, thus creating a solid subculture that plays itself out both virtually and in musical gatherings found off the beaten track.

Moreover, many of Britain's top summer festivals offer stages for unsigned independent bands to be heard by hundreds of thousands of new ears - a platform that only a privileged few are allowed to inhabit. The Topman Unsigned Stage at the Carling-sponsored Leeds Festival, for instance, offers unsigned independent bands from across the UK the chance to play to over 70, 000 people - an opportunity that many independent bands would be willing to sacrifice a lot for. The T-Break stage at Scotland's T in the Park festival offers unsigned Scottish independent bands a similar privilege, allowing the movers and shakers of the local scene to truly shine out in style.

However, if you're in a band and you're eager to make it to one of the UK's big summer festivals as a performer rather than a spectator, it's important to make sure that your look is distinct in order to shine out against all the other independent independent bands out there - especially if you're a man. With the likes of Pete Doherty and Razorlight frontman Johnny Borrell laying down the new the new fashion stakes in the indie music scene, as well as the kin of the Klaxons and similar having laid down the diktats of new-rave over the last year, male musicians have come under increasing pressure to look good as well as sound good.

Luckily, a simple scour of any leading men's clothing store is sure to provide any budding Alex Kapranos with what they're looking for. And while festival fashion needn't involve any more than a printed t-shirt, roll up shorts and large sunglasses, a printed waterproof jacket or a pair of neon wellies could really set you apart from the crowd.

Ultimately, while indie music might not be so "independent" any more, making sure your image shines out from afar could really give you the edge in making the transition from unsigned band to household name. And even if you don't make it to the stage, you'll still be able to get tickets to see the other unsigned independent bands that did: and then those wellies will really come in handy!

Helio Therapy And Your Mental Well Being

Since ancient times, natural light was known to have positive physiological effects on the human body. It dates back to a time when the famous Greek philosopher and the Father of Medicine, Hippocrates, used the sun's rays in his naturopathic treatments for diseases. Heliotherapy is the practice of using sunlight to fight ailments and restore health.

In the early 20th century, heliotherapy was extensively used to treat diseases like tuberculosis, rickets in children and war-wounds. Its importance was formally recognized when Dr. Niels Finson got the Nobel Prize in 1903 for devising a method of ultraviolet therapy in tuberculosis-cure.

Heliotherapy involves using suns ultraviolet rays to initiate Vitamin D production in our skin and thereby prevents breast cancer, osteoporosis, prostate cancer, psoriasis, acne, etc. The increased metabolism in the body due to vitamin D production also multiplies enzyme reaction rate, cell regeneration, tissue repair, blood flow speed and increased oxygen supply.

Some significant beneficiaries of Heliotherapy

Spinal Cord Injury patients Paralytic people suffer from severe loss of lower-extremity bone mass. Vitamin D causes Calcium (which is the most vital component of bone-growth) to be absorbed from the intestinal tracts. Vitamin D deficiency causes deformed bone-growth, increasing the probability of fractures.

Multiple Sclerosis patients - Studies reveal that people located in lesser sunlight-exposed areas are more prone to multiple sclerosis. For example, Norwegians living near the ocean and consuming vitamin D enriched seafood, report lesser cases of multiple sclerosis than those living inland.

Old Age patients - Vitamin D production in a body decreases with age. Studies say that this vitamin acts as a preventive agent against prostate cancer, which is the second most common cause of cancerous death in people over 75.

Athletes - Repeated researches in sports medicine have shown that routine exposure of athletes to the sun not only optimized their performance capabilities, but also significantly reduced the incidence and recovery time from minor injuries.

Apart from its medicinal virtues, heliotherapy signifies that Helios, or the sun, has always been a buoyant factor for perking up people's moods. This has been reflected over the ages in several poems, songs and movies. Interestingly, researchers have also found that exposure to sunlight increases the production of serotonin, a chemical that stimulates the human brain's pleasure centers, thereby uplifting our moods in moments of depression and anxiety. Herein remains the connection between heliotherapy and our mental well-being.

Coping with Grief - It's Called Living Through It

"Dad, I tried to wake Nana, I think she's dead."
"Grandpa died yesterday."
"Oh my God, Daddy's dead."
"Uncle Jack died today."
"Grandma died last night."
"I'm standing with the body of your deceased father-in-law."
"Hon, I think we should get a divorce."
"I'm sorry, but we weren't able to resuscitate your mother."
"Mike called. He thinks Mary is dead."
"I'm sorry to leave this on your voice mail, but Uncle Andy died last night."

This litany of phone calls and conversations on death or parting has all occurred in the past 30 years of my life, most in the last 20. Whether I was the one delivering or receiving these messages, the speaking of each one was the start of the long, seemingly endless process of grieving. Often, I felt so sucker punched that I doubted I could go on. Getting up the next day seemed impossible, yet somehow I almost always did.

Something deep inside told me I had to, that there was no other way to get through it, but to keep moving. I attribute that to my deep belief in a higher plan and a sense that getting through this trial was like going through a tunnel. I told myself that if I put one foot in front of the other, I would eventually come out the other side and be able to feel somewhat whole again. Sometimes, it was all I could do to put one toe in front of the other, but all forward movement I deemed positive.

The last five instances happened within the past five years, with my mother and sister-in-law and godfather's deaths back to back in '99, '00 and '01. Looking for the reason why I have been given so many opportunities to experience the grip of grief first hand, I now believe it was in order to help others and ease their way.

If you've been here, you know. There's no magic pill to get you through the immense pain, intense sadness and amazing denial, anger and upset that you feel. However, I did create, through trial and error, a few simple practices which have profoundly impacted my journey through the tunnel and I would like to share them with you.

(1) Every single day, let in the love of family, friends and co-workers. On those days that you feel you can't bear to see anyone or when you realize that some of them have moved on, thinking in error that you are "better", read through the cards you've received. Save and then play voice mail messages and re-read e-mails of support. Give your heart a visible reminder that others do care and want to share your pain. Let them - mentally off-load a bit of it onto their shoulders. Don't try to carry it all by yourself. It can crush you and it will try. Don't let it!

(2) Create a morning or evening meditation time. Even if you can't see how to find the time, do it somehow. This was especially helpful to me in getting through the horrible time of adjustment to life alone after my divorce and then again when my Mom died. I had always said a few wake-up prayers, but found I needed more. I started with Jerry Jampolsky's book, "Love is the Answer" and read one (short) chapter a day. Then, I bought the book "A Course on Miracles" and meditated on the daily passages. While the 365 lessons seemed to represent a huge commitment, the daily phrases were so empowering that I continued. Additionally, I saved affirmations from various sources like Science of Mind magazine and The Daily Word and read them daily. Any quote from a book or article that I thought would motivate me to get up and make the day a less painful one than the day before, I saved and re-read daily. I posted the best of them around my office and in my meditation area. I still do. When you actively start looking for empowering passages, you will be touched and inspired by what comes your way.

(3) Finally, but most importantly, express yourself in some way often! I would recommend that you do it daily, as well. I found out the hard way that keeping emotions bottled up or trying to ignore them hurt more in the long run and adversely affected my health. Talk to people about your loved one, write about him/her, start a journal of your thoughts and feelings, scream whenever you can find a place where you won't alarm the neighbors, family members or fellow travelers, do some kind of physical exercise to work off steam - whenever and wherever you can vent, do so daily.

To anyone caught in the black and blue morass of grief, I invite you to consider adding these three emotionally healing practices to your daily life. They have helped me come through some horribly upsetting times, still sad at heart, but feeling more serene in the knowledge that I can and will go on - living my life to the best of my ability - for my dear ones and with my dear ones safely ensconced in my mind and heart forevermore.

Essential Questions For Brides Considering All Inclusive Hotel Wedding Packages

When considering all inclusive wedding packages for your wedding reception, you need to make sure you ask all the right questions. You wont want to be caught out with any nasty surprises!

Whether with numbers, costs, corkage or freebies, these questions will set you on the right path to a clear quote for your all inclusive wedding package.

What kinds of package are available?
There will be numerous of all inclusive wedding packages available at each venue. Make sure you find out whats available, and more importantly whats included and whats not.

Do you have a marriage licence?
If you want to be married in the same venue as your reception, its best to check this upfront. Many hotels do not have marriage licences, so its worth checking.

Are there minimum numbers that need to attend?
Some venues set a minimum number so that they can maintain revenue levels. So if youre planning a cosy 40 guest reception you may not be able to do this without being charged for the minimum number of guests, which may be set at 100.

Is there a minimum fee that will be charged?
Some venues will charge you for all the facilities, even if you dont use them. For example, you only have 75 guests which fit nicely into the main function room; the venue may then charge you additional room space available, but not used. Afterall, its lost revenue for them.

How are the costs broken down?
If the costs arent clear, ask for them to be broken down. Dont just accept what you see on the bottom line. There maybe elements included within in a package that you dont need. Ask for a break down and double-check all quotes. Some questions to ask here:
- Is there a charge for the room?
- Is there a service charge included?
- Is VAT or sales tax included?
- Is insurance included?

Are there additional costs for use of the venues equipment?
Most hotels will charge you a per head cost for each guest; however some hotels or venues will also charge you a cost for using their equipment. So you could get charged for the use of, and the washing up of, each fork, spoon, plate, glass etc. A friend found this out about her venue and was charged 20% more on her bill. As this was a couple of months before her wedding, the venue had her over a barrel as the invites had been sent out and it was too late to change! Always ask!

Can the wedding planner manage my reception budget?
Some wedding planners will stick to a budget that you give them. Others may try and up-sell services to you all the time. Ask them if they will honour your wedding budget.

How many staff will be waiting on?
Sometimes the costs can be lowered by reducing the number of people waiting on during the reception. Some venues may have one server to five guests, others as few as one server to twenty. Simply put, reducing the number of people serving reduces the wage bill. This may be a good one to ask if you need to lower the costs a little, particularly if you dont mind a slightly slower service. Bear in mind that some hotels may state that they have a reputation to uphold and may not budge, others will.

Is it possible to try the food and wines on the sample menus?
Most hotels will offer this service free of charge to help you select your menu for the big day. Its always worth checking, as you shouldnt assume the food is any good, just because its a 3, 4 or 5 star hotel. Doing a tasting session is great fun, particularly if you happen to be having a reception in 5* hotel and the restaurant has a Michelin star!

Is there a set amount we must spend in the bar?
Some hotels will set a minimum spend on the bar. If this is not met, then youll foot the bill. Best to ask beforehand, so you dont get a nasty surprise.

Is it possible to supply your own alcohol?
Some hotels will allow you to bring in your own drinks, but since much of their profit is made on food and beverages, youll be charged a hefty corkage fee. Also worth noting, that sometimes corkage can be negotiated.

Will we have exclusive access to the venue?
Some venues pack them in and pile them high. You may find that there are three other weddings in the hotel on your big day. Ask in advance if this is the case, so you can take this into consideration when choosing your venue. If you have your heart set on a particular hotel and package, perhaps they can dedicate a floor to you, so that it feels exclusive and you get some privacy. This very much depends on the set up of the hotel though.

Do you have a music policy?
Make sure you ask if there are any policies with regard to music. The last thing you want is your disco finishing at 11.30pm, just as everyone is getting into the 80s classics. Ask if the music needs to stop at a particular time or do you have to use certain musicians, independent bands or DJs?

Is there outdoor space available to use?
Some hotels have very well maintained gardens, which make a perfect overflow or additional space to your reception. Check if you can use this space, if the use is exclusive and if theres an additional cost for the use.

Do you offer special discounts if guests stay in the hotel?
Many hotels will offer special room rates for guests staying overnight in the hotel. Its always good to try and negotiate this as its a nice perk for the guests staying.

What complementary elements are there for the bride and groom?
Many hotels offer special privileges to the happy couple, including free spa access, free accommodation, free parking, free champagne all day/night and much more. If free stuff is important to you, then its worth asking.

With these questions in hand, the planning of your all inclusive wedding packages should be easy.

Bankruptcy Help - The Effects of Filing and Alternatives to Review First

Filing for Bankruptcy, regardless of whether chapter 7 or chapter 13 may have long lasting negative effects on your credit history for up to 10 years. These negative marks against your credit history may make it difficult to apply for future credit, secure jobs that require a positive credit profile, rent an apartment, purchase a vehicle, etc. The cost of filing bankruptcy can add up over the course of years. Banks or other lenders will most likely charge higher interest rates and fees should they choose to lend money. Bankruptcy is deemed as a high credit risk and therefore to compensate for the risk lenders charge higher interest rates and/or fees. Bankruptcy can have a severe negative impact on relationships or marriages. The stress of bankruptcy leads to many separations or even divorce. Financial problems create much unneeded stress on relationships, filing for bankruptcy does not offer the fresh & clean start that many seek when filing and that carries over into relationship difficulties in many cases.

What can you do to Avoid Bankruptcy?

Live Within Your Means

Avoid getting into debt trouble to begin with. Do your best to avoid charging credit cards for every day living expenses. Look at your current financial situation. Are there charges that you pay monthly that are attached to a credit card payment such as utilities, cell phone bills, magazine subscriptions, grocery bills, etc.? Review your budget to find unnecessary charges to your credit cards that you can manage without.

Identify the Debt Problem Early

Being proactive rather than reactive to your debt problems is the key to avoiding bankruptcy. Many individuals are able to avoid bankruptcy by realizing their debt problems early, therefore leading to more time for those individuals to regain control of their finances. One recommendation is to create a monthly personal budget report. This will lead to earlier detection of potential problems. By doing this an individual can also identify their savings potentials as well. Saving money now, regardless of amounts, will help for future emergency needs.

Review all of Your Options First

There is a common misconception that filing bankruptcy gives an individual a fresh start on their credit. This is simply not true. Filing for bankruptcy has several long lasting negative impacts as outlined above. One of the first things that should be done is to speak directly to your creditors. They may be able to work out arrangements that would allow you to pay less than the minimum amounts for a short period of time. Sometimes this is enough to help an individual avoid bankruptcy. Another option is to look at getting a part time job or selling assets to avoid filing. Selling your assets should be a last resort, however in the long term this can help avoid the long lasting impact of bankruptcy.

Seek Help

Seek advice from a non-profit Credit Counseling agency. Look for a Credit Counseling or Debt Management provider that offers a free consultation. Keep in mind that Credit Counseling / Debt Management organizations are designed to assist an individual with their finances first and then provide debt reduction services second. You may find that with a few minor changes you may be able to avoid filing and repay your debts on your own.

Avoid Debt Settlement companies. Debt Settlement, in many cases is viewed as filing for bankruptcy by many lenders. This may sound like a quick fix however nothing beats repaying your debts in full, whether on your own or through a Debt Counseling / Debt Management company.

Use bankruptcy as your last option. Some situations can spin out of control very quickly. Just be sure that you review all situations before filing.
